Abstract

Cyber-security takes different forms around the world.  The security and peace of many countries are now seriously threatened by the increasing menace of cyber-terrorism. The use of cyber technology to undermine national autonomy and disrupt the social and economic fabric of states has been established over the past 15 years. Thus, after land, sea, air, and space, cyberspace is recognised as a fifth operational area. Cyberterrorism may have social, political, ideological, religious, or other comparable objectives. For instance, political motivations can underlie state-sponsored cyber-terrorist attacks. Anonymous groups' cyber-terrorism actions may be motivated by social or ideological goals. The destruction of essential infrastructure and information systems, hacking into communication systems, obtaining classified information, disseminating false information, intimidating people, launching Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks, and deploying Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) are just a few ways that cyber-terrorists try to attain their objectives.
