TNI in Defense Diplomacy: Strengthening International Military Cooperation

In the era of globalization and the complexity of cross-border security threats, military cooperation between countries is becoming increasingly important in maintaining regional and global peace and stability. The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), as one of the leading military forces in the Southeast Asian region, has a significant role in carrying out defense diplomacy to promote positive relations with partner countries in efforts to maintain regional and global security. This research discusses the role of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in the context of defense diplomacy and efforts to strengthen international military cooperation. This research will analyze how the TNI contributes to defense diplomacy, and the exchange of defense knowledge, and participation in international humanitarian missions. Internal and external factors that affect the TNI's capability in defense diplomacy will also be explored. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results of the study show that TNI's efforts in defense diplomacy in an effort to increase international military cooperation are in the form of sending peacekeepers, joint military exercises, defense attaches, and exchange of defense knowledge showing real efforts in building strong and mutually beneficial bilateral relations. In an effort to increase defense diplomacy efforts by the TNI, it cannot be separated from various influencing factors, namely. Close coordination between related institutions, especially the TNI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the capability and capacity of the TNI to carry out defense diplomacy, and commitment to international security
