Abstract

The concept of the "Singapore - Johor (Malaysia) - Riau Islands (Indonesia) Growth Triangle" was first proposed by Singapore. In December 1989, Goh Chok Tong, then Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, proposed the concept of "Singapore-Johor-(?) Tam (an island in the Riau Archipelago) Growth Triangle", which was later developed and the scope of cooperation expanded.
