Abstract

This study explores safety challenges in Ghana's construction sector, covering regulatory compliance, occupational hazards, workforce training, and socioeconomic factors. It identifies regulatory gaps and highlights the importance of targeted interventions to improve compliance. The study also emphasizes the need for comprehensive injury prevention strategies to mitigate occupational risks. Additionally, it discusses the social responsibility of construction companies in improving safety standards and examines the impact of inadequate hazard identification and mitigation. The effectiveness of safety training programs, including VR-based training, is questioned. The study underscores the role of organizational culture and management commitment in shaping safety outcomes and addresses socioeconomic issues contributing to unsafe practices. Overall, it advocates a holistic approach to safety culture development and aims to halve safety hazards in Ghana's construction industry.
