In the article, the features of using the finite element numerical method for modeling unsteady water movement in water management objects, taking into account the two-dimensionality of the water flow in space, are outlined. The use of the finite element method in the modeling of water flow taking into account the multidimensional parameters of water management objects in space, computer modeling of the dynamics of temporary processes of water resources, determining the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the water flow along the length and width of a river or channel, as well as, allows to determine the design parameters that improve the performance of new structures in them, and also significantly reduces the time spent on studying the processes that occur in them compared to full-scale studies and sample studies on a physical model.
