Mediating Role Of Teachers’ Empowerment On The Relationship Between Leader-Member Exchange And Job Performance

In modern era, performance of the employees is a major concern for the growth of the organizations. Similarly, for the socio-economic growth of the countries depends on the development of the higher education institutions. This goal can be achieved through the performance of the academic staff. The major objective of this study was to determine the mediating role of teachers’ empowerment on the relationship between leader-member exchange and job performance. The public university teaching faculty from Punjab was selected as population of this study while 463 respondents were administered as sample which were selected through multistage sampling technique. The primary research data was collected by using standardized questionnaire through survey method. For analysis Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling [PLS-SEM] was administered in order to test the raised research questions in this research. As revealed in the result of this study, leader member exchange and teachers’ empowerment have a significant and positive relationship with job performance. Furthermore, the variable of the study leader member exchange has more positive correlation than teachers’ empowerment with job performance. Moreover, teachers’ empowerment also has significant mediating effect on the relationship between leader member exchange and job performance. In conclusion, the findings proved that leader member exchange and teachers’ empowerment enhance the job performance. This study is beneficial for the leaders in order to adopt effective behavior by empowering the teaching faculty for the improvement of teachers’ job performance. Moreover, it provides the meaningful significant contribution for the sustainable development of higher education institutions by adopting new strategies and techniques through valuable human resources.
