Antecedents Of Secondary School Student Adjustment, A Review

Abstract

Secondary school adjustment is a researched topic since 1980’s and yet it is one of the major issues for any student to develop and acquire skills. There is feasibility in student’s adjustment when the adjustment process is well supported and nurtured by all influencers on the students. Secondary school students are in their adolescence so are by nature unruly and full of energy and enthusiasm. So this study aims at finding antecedents of school adjustment in secondary school. The study finds the role of socio economical, socio ecological and socio-cultural norms playing a role in the adjustment process along with various other factors. This study will help Parents, Teachers and students of education and psychology, Policymakers, community to find their role and ways to build a comfortable and smooth transition and adjustment process bring the best academic achievements for students. The study suggest antecedents, barriers to adjustment and coping strategies for students which can be imbibed by schools.
