Abstract

The study of gender division of labor as well as matriarchy is not a new direction in the field of social sciences. In studies, the division of labor by gender is often analyzed based on specific manifestations such as: who is the main earner of the economy, who is in charge of the housework, taking care of children's education, the right to decide on other issues important topics in particular societies. In this article, we want to present the division and implementation of labor as a process of social construction in terms of gender in the Stieng community according to the matrilineal regime, which is reflected in production activities, and recycling activities.  Production and community activities are placed in the comparative relationship between traditional and present society
