Abstract

This study seeks to examine the gender biases in the development sector for human development prospects in Balochistan, Pakistan. For accomplishment of research objective, quantitative technique was applied by using random sampling technique. Data was collected from a total number of one hundred respondents from Lasbela, Quetta, and Pishin districts of Balochistan. The respondents consisted 33, 34, and 33 from Lasbela, Quetta, and Pishin districts respectively. Likert scaling deemed fit in this research. ANOVA (Tukey HSDa) test was applied by using the SPSS. The outcomes indicated that the majority (76%) of respondents placed at the age category of 20-40 years. Half (50%) of respondents were uneducated. Majority (76%) of the respondents belonged to the joint family system. More than half (55%) of the respondents were male. Economic biases (MS = 2.2500a “Lasbela”, MS = 3.2059b “Quetta” MS = 3.2941b “Pishin” p ≤0.05) and cultural biases (MS = 3.0000a “Lasbela”, MS = 4.2353b “Quetta” MS = 4.5294b “Pishin” p ≤0.05) were highly significant. While, on the other hand, education biases, social biases and legal biases remained only significant based on p ≤0.05 respectively. Hence,  in order to obviate the gender biases in the development sector, it is recommended that the government of Balochistan should formulate solid instruments policies for female empowerment in the development sector as equal to male. Furthermore, the government should create income generation opportunities or chances in the development sector for female like agriculture, livestock, energy, and forestry and fisheries sectors at a considerable rate so as to reduce the male dependency.
