Abstract

The rationale of this study was to examine headship practices (transformational management, transactional management and Laissez-faire management) at higher education Institutions in Punjab, Pakistan.A sample of 100 Leaders working in different divisions of civic and personal universities in Punjab, Pakistan was taken by using convenient sampling technique. A self-produced questionnaire on Leadershipwas handed down to assemble data.The information were scrutinized by putting applications of descriptive and inferential arithmetical techniques i.e., mean score, and t-test. It was found that the leadership practices of leaders at private universities was better as compared to the leadership practices of leaders at public universities. The leaders at private universities gained maximum scores on Transformational and Transactional Leadership practices while the leaders of public universities were inclined towards Laissez- Faire leadership. The findings of these studies will provoke the attentions of leaders at higher education institutions in Punjab, Pakistan to reshape their leadership practices for the progress and development of higher education in Pakistan.
