Abstract

In Indonesia, higher education is organized by the government (state universities) and private parties (private universities). Explicitly the function of higher education is formulated in the tridharma of higher education, namely education/teaching, research and community service. The development of scientific papers is an inseparable part of the competence of lecturers as stated in the concept of the tridharma of higher education, such as the duties of a lecturer include three components, namely education and teaching training, research and scientific work as well as community service. The low level of scientific publications in reputable journals from researchers in Indonesia has become an obstacle to entering the ranks of word class universities. The population of this study is a private university in the Kepulauan Riau, with a population of 449 using 5% slovin obtained from a sample of 212 respondents. Data analysis was performed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The software used for structural analysis is Lisrel 8.70 from Hari Styo. The results of the study are as follows: The effect of transformational leadership on positive performance is not significant at 1.75, and positive significant organizational commitment is 3.48, the positive achievement motivation is not significant at 0.88, the effect of self-efficacy on positive performance is significant at 3 .86, to the significant positive organizational commitment of 5.96 and significant positive achievement motivation of 3.68, competence on positive performance is not significant at 1.32, to the significant positive organizational commitment of 1.98 and positive achievement motivation is not significant at -0.32 organizational commitment to achievement motivation is significantly positive at 3.82.
