Abstract

After a long period of deliberation and preparation, the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as SAARC) was finally formally established in December 1985. The establishment of SAARC is an inevitable result of the development of the entire South-South cooperation movement, but more specifically, it is a product under the influence of ASEAN, because ASEAN is close at hand, and every achievement and every step of its progress is tangible or intangible. It provides strong encouragement and inspiration to leaders and people of insight in South Asian countries. So, will SAARC develop into an organization like ASEAN? What is its development prospect?
