The cosmetics sector in China has experienced significant expansion, driven by a growing consumer market and a wide range of product choices. The expansion has been accompanied by a significant transformation in consumer psychology, particularly among women, who hold a majority in the marketplace. Due to the significant influence of packaging on customer choices, cosmetics companies must urgently improve the visual attractiveness of their packaging in order to effectively build their brands. Although there have been global developments, cosmetic container design in China frequently fails to meet international requirements. This study investigates the incorporation of traditional Chinese folk paper-cut art into cosmetic container design in order to connect different elements. Folk paper-cut art, renowned for its profound cultural relevance and unique visual style, serves as a valuable wellspring of inspiration for contemporary packaging designs. By incorporating Chinese cultural aesthetics and capturing emotional subtleties, it has the capacity to emotionally resonate with customers. This study explores the potential application of the traditional art of paper cutting in the cosmetics industry, with the aim of improving the marketability of products and promoting cultural heritage worldwide. It specifically emphasises the psychological influence of these designs on female consumers, who play a crucial role in the cosmetics industry. The study utilises a mixed-methods methodology, which involves conducting six in-depth interviews with female consumers, in order to investigate the relationship between consumer psychology and packaging aesthetics. The findings provide practical design insights that correspond to the tastes of female consumers and emphasise the emotional and aesthetic significance of folk paper-cut motifs in cosmetic packaging. This study aims to enhance the standards of cosmetic packaging design in China by examining the relationship between traditional art and modern consumer needs. Additionally, it seeks to contribute to the broader discussion on how cultural elements can improve consumer product engagement in a globalised market.
