Abstract

Food waste is a recurring problem. In industrialised countries, food worth billions of dollars are frequently wasted. The issue has been addressed, yet the answer has gotten muddled despite the attempts. Food waste has a variety of harmful effects. Wasted food not only contributes to climate change but it is anticipated to rise over the next 25 years as a result of population growth and economic development. Food waste costs billions of dollars in homes, restaurants, manufacturing, retail, and service industries. Given this, the goal of this paper is to find out why people constantly combine trash rather than separating it into solid and food waste, as well as the barriers of doing so. The laws now in force only apply to solid waste. There are few to no measures made to prevent food waste. What regulations are in place to deal with this problem. How to use legal tools to advance sustainable growth, reduce food waste, and maximise benefits in the face of many obstacles. It is clear that effective law making and enforcement are essential for achieving the sustainable development goal. The objective of sustainable development cannot be fulfilled unless this is realised.
